An Act of Parliament of the Federal Republic of Nigeria created the University of Lagos in 1962 to promote educational growth. Its main site is in Akoka, while its additional campuses are in Idi-Araba and Yaba at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL). With a student population of over 60,000, the University caters to both full-time and part-time students (regular and part-time at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels). It has a workforce of approximately 5,000 people.
The Bursar is the University’s Principal Officer and Chief Financial Officer. He or she must show initiative and determination in improving the University’s financial situation. He or she must be well-versed in banking, investing, and budgetary processes and procedures. He or she reports to the Vice-Chancellor for day-to-day administration, financial oversight, and resource development for the execution and maintenance of the University’s strategic goals as outlined in the 25-Year Strategic Plan.
Candidates with vision, management competence, honesty, and transparency in private and public life are sought for the position. The ideal applicant will be able to build relationships with external communities in order to assist the University’s evolving requirements. He or she should be able to command respect and gain the cooperation and allegiance of the University’s personnel and students. Furthermore, the candidate must be in excellent health, ICT-savvy, and under the age of sixty (60) on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The selected applicant must be able to maintain and strengthen the University Bursary’s existing connections.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
A solid honours degree in accounting or a comparable area from a recognized university is required, as well as a NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption. Possession of a suitable higher education degree will be a plus.
